p 8 Call To Register 253-841-5457 Youth Programs Indoor Mini Park Come inside to play! The Puyallup Recreation Center is home to the indoor mini park just for the youngest of kids. The park features toys, tikes, climbing fun and a chance to meet new friends. Not to mention, it's a great place to play when it is wet outside! All children must be accompanied by an adult. This is a drop-in program. Ages: 5 & Under When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, October 1- December 19, 8:30-11:30am Where: PRC/GYM Fee: $2 per child Introduction to Ballet This class is perfect for young kids looking for a beginning class in ballet. Basic steps and moves will be taught in a fun, friendly environment. Pink leather shoes are required for girls; black leather shoes are required for boys. Instructor: Salina Young Ages: 4-6 When: Tuesdays, September 10-October 15, 9:30-10:10am Tuesdays, November 5-December 10, 9:30-10:10am Where: PRC/CENT Fee: $42 Resident Discount $35 Ballet for Beginners This class is a great chance for kids to be introduced to the skills in ballet. Basic steps and moves will be taught in a fun, friendly environment. More advanced skills are introduced with the older age group. Pink leather shoes are required for girls; black leather shoes are required for boys. Instructor: Salina Young Ages: 7-14 When: Tuesdays, September 10-October 15, 10:20-11am Tuesdays, November 5-December 10, 10:20-11am Where: PRC/CENT Fee: $35 Resident Discount $30 Beginning Watercolor This watercolor class is for beginners and those wanting to continue to further their understanding of this medium. Students will practice mixing colors and applying them using various techniques. We will complete several small paintings of nature and subjects of interest. Instructor: Betsy Ward Ages: Adults When: Saturdays, October 12-November 30, 10am-12pm Where: PRC/CENT Fee: $130 Environmental Engineering: Go Green! During the Environmental Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine basic solutions related to alternative energy and environmental issues. They learn principles behind crafting efficient wind-powered machines and discover how those machines can be used to help reduce the use of fossil fuels. During the culminating project, students test different materials to discover which ones most effectively clean up after an oil spill. Instructor: David Yue, Central Pierce Engineering for Kids Ages: 7-11 When: Wednesdays, September 11- October 16, 6-7:30pm Where: PRC/Cent Fee: $89 Robotics: Robo Battles This Robotics: Robo Battles curriculum is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building, but also pro- gramming basic robots. Throughout this course the students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to engage in various battle challenges. Instructor: David Yue, Central Pierce Engineering for Kids Ages: 7-12 *An interest in, or experience with, Scratch programming (or similar block based coding) is recommended.
